ACTIVEWEAR - Product Information

All of our clothing are well made quality garments, sold at affordable prices, sourced from Spain, made to the highest standards and inspected before they leave the factory.

All our clothing is great for working out in, relaxing in; it is lightweight, breathable and helps you feel great.

Garment Care: Although these garments are labelled Do Not Tumble Dry, I always tumble dry mine which I literally wear day in/day out; so as long as you’re careful there shouldn’t be a problem.

Sunglasses - Product Information

All our sunglasses / eyewear comply with BS EN ISO 12312-1 and are UV400 rated providing the maximum protection from harmful UVR. Frames are strong and durable and lenses are high quality and completely distortion-free.

All models come with a 2-year guarantee (please note this excludes scratches to lenses but covers materials and workmanship).

Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR)

Sunglasses eliminate solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR), in particular the more damaging UVB radiation. UV rays from sunlight can damage the retina and the lens of the eye. Too much exposure is linked to conditions like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Good quality sunglasses should meet the industry standard UV400 rating and all Evolution sunglasses and eyewear meet this standard. They will, therefore, provide the eye with substantial protection against solar UVR and reducing the amount of UVR that the eye is exposed to over a person’s lifetime will be beneficial.

Polarised (Polarized) Sunglasses

Polarised (polarized) lenses are different to standard sunglass lenses; they have a special film either sandwiched between two other layers of the lens or applied to the front of a base lens. What this special film does is eliminate glare off a surface like a pavement, road, water or snow.  Lightwaves from the sun travel in all directions but when sunlight strikes a surface, it becomes concentrated – this ‘polarised’ light as it is called causes glare. A polarised lens will eliminate this polarised light. The result is the ability to see light in its pure state. Objects will appear more defined, sharper and naturally coloured. Instead of squinting to minimise glare, a polarised lens will allow your eyes to see colours with true clarity. Because polarised lenses block glare off a surface they are popular with sailing, boating and watersports enthusiasts, fishing enthusiasts, snow sports enthusiasts, runners, cyclists and drivers. When used for fishing a polarised lens means you will be able to see down below the surface of the water.

Lens Care

Polycarbonate is the material favoured by most sports eyewear brands like Evolution because this material is very light but shatterproof and impact resistant; providing a very high degree of eye protection. Unlike glass however, polycarbonate will easily scratch so you do need to take care of the lenses and always keep your sunglasses or eyewear in a case or carry pouch when not in use. Polycarbonate lenses that fall onto a hard surface like a tennis court will easily scratch so it’s also a good idea to wear a retainer (also called frame cords and cord grips); these attach to the temples (frame arms) and will stop your sunglasses or eyewear slipping off your face when you are mobile and you perspire.

Lenses colours and their uses

  • Grey (also called Smoke) – The most popular lens colour it reduces all light equally and does not increase – best for bright light and sunny conditions.
  • Amber and Brown – Popular colours that give a warm appearance and they increase contrast – suitable for most weather / light conditions.
  • Yellow – A light enhancing, high contrast colour – good for poor light, low visibility cloudy conditions.
  • Clear – For protecting eyes from impact, dust / dirt or abrasion.
  • Red / Vermilion / Rose / Orange – High contrast, high definition lenses that filter out blue light. Objects appear sharper and more clearly defined – good for overcast conditions.
  • Mirror and ‘Revo’ lenses – The fashionable mirror and revo effect are coatings applied to the front of the lens (usually applied to a base smoke / grey lens). They are primarily for cosmetic effect but also increase the filtering power by reducing the amount of light interference.
